Avalanche Awareness Course

This course is designed to heighten your knowledge on this critical subject while giving you hands-on practice. Avalanche Awareness is a must for those who travel in the backcountry. During two evening or one day we will cover the basics of avalanches awareness. We will concentrate on understanding the snowpack, preparing for travel through avalanche country, basic route finding, what to do if caught, and how to search for avalanche victims.

Field work will be covered including hands on route finding and digging of hasty pits during either a one day session or two day long sessions in a mountain location. Course will include practical exercises in transceiver searches, probe searches, and safe route finding. Need more information to survive in avalanche country, take this course.
