Winter survival in the boreal forest is a challenge that can be easily overcome with the right training and practice. The Wilderness Survival Winter Field Session course has a relaxed hands-on learning atmosphere, giving you a chance to develop and practice the survival skills discussed in Wilderness Survival Core Seminar. This course takes you beyond the classroom allowing you to gain confidence in the solid modern survival techniques that can be quickly applied in the Montane or Boreal Environments. This training gives you the chance to develop and practice winter survival skills, in has a relaxed hands-on learning atmosphere. It will allow you an excellent look at the challenges of Montane or Boreal Forest survival in winter. In the Wilderness Survival Winter Field Session the emphasis will be on staying comfortable in winter, boreal forest resources, shelter building, fire lighting, and knifecraft. Firecraft practice will be extensive and emphasize will be on lighting fire with natural tinders and a zirconium striker. Participants will live in a group shelter on the first night and in their individual survival shelter on the second night. Each participant will have the opportunity to build a winter survival shelter, a "15 Minute Saw" (Survival Bow Saw), a sharpening board, and an improvised candle lantern. Learn the skills you need to survive. The next step is to take the 5-day Wilderness Survival Winter Field Trek. |
