The IASCC is an advanced Snow Shelter Building Course thats lets you travel up where the snow is deep and get the chance to build excellent Snowcaves and Igloos. We covers both the theory and practical application of building Quinches, Inuit Igloos, Scottish Igloos, and various designs of Snowcaves. We will discuss and practice winter snow shelters construction, safe sighting of shelters, different techniques for building snowcaves, and traditional and modern igloo building techniques.
Participants will build both a Snowcave and Igloo. We'll build snowcaves on the first night and then spend the rest of the time perfecting our Igloo Building Techniques. Skiing skill is not necessary, party will move on snowshoes or cross country skies, and by helicopter or Snowcat if necessary. Each participant must supply their own snowshoes, digging equipment, winter camping gear, shovel, and avalanche transceiver.
